AFF Sentinel Vol.6#10

Remember weeks ago, when folks assured everyone President Obama would govern from the center? Despite:

  • Everything he said (promises that he couldn't keep without governing from the left)
  • Everything he had written (which sounded either na?ve about the world or unacquainted with human nature, save for the minority viewpoint)
  • His state voting record
  • A Congress containing hardcore liberals like Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, Boxer, Feinstein, Barney Frank, Durbin, Schumer and Bernie Sanders - an authentic Socialist - all ranking in voting record to the right of Obama

despite all this, they assured us he was centrist?

We didn't buy it then. We also warned that Pelosi and Reid held legislative power, were hard-core, battle tested and chomping at the bit, having waited years for a Democratic president to sign their bills.

But even we are shocked at the blitzkrieg-like display of power, speed, force, unmitigated gall and then the truly gargantuan spending the Terrifying Triumvirate of Obama, Pelosi and Reid have rammed through already. The blitzkrieg we studied in history managed only to capture Poland in five weeks. In equivalent time, the Terrible Three had spent or committed to spend more money than America had spent in 220 years, launched a systemic attack on the Constitution and set in motion a serious gutting of our capitalist system.

Centrist?

Ponder a brief list of the moves AFF is tracking, both general and agricultural, that this administration and Congress have "accomplished" or proposed:

  • Outraged U.S. trading partners worldwide and triggered direct confrontation with our largest partners and neighbors -- Canada and Mexico.
  • Nominated a number two official at USDA with no agricultural experience, save at a Boston university involving community gardens
  • Nominated another high USDA official from an ag group that has favored systemic destruction of agriculture's capitalist free market system, including limiting company size, hampering trade, banning contracts between market participants and restricting who can and cannot own livestock.
  • Proposed removing or drastically reducing tax deductibility of contributions to charities, churches and non-profits, reinstating the death tax and increasing capital gains taxes
  • Passed legislation to confiscate monies earned by a particular group of private citizens from employment contracts and set salary caps on CEOs and high officials of financial institutions; proposed regulating all CEO pay.
  • Allowed the Consumer Product Safety Commission to force huge financial losses and the dumping of products ranging from Goodwill's used toys to ATVs over hysterical lead content fears.
  • Re-introduced the horse slaughter transportation ban
  • Rep. Rosa DeLauro's HR 875 has proposed unprecedented regulation and control over food production and processing under the guise of "modernizing" food safety.
  • Proposed a ban on semiautomatic guns like hunting shotguns
  • Like calming the fears of a small child -- pretending something isn't under the bed or just re- naming it -- the War on Terror has disappeared, replaced by "Overseas Contingency Operations."

All this spending and power grabbing is before a new government health care system and a green initiative involving a cap-and-trade system. That system would force huge carbon taxes on every industry that produces something, e.g. manufacturing, energy production, electricity generation, transportation and agriculture. Incredibly, Obama's rosy long-term budget includes revenue of $646 billion he's counting on from carbon taxes to help balance his budget -- by penalizing our economic engines.

Demonstrating things government mangles - healthcare -- consider the recent National Cancer Institute "study." "Researchers," using a first grader's model, ("What were the good old days like, Grandpa?") handed people a 35-page questionnaire and asked them to remember what they've eaten the last five years! On such folklore, they implicated red meat in early death.

Mere months ago, who'd have thought the French (!) would be lecturing everyone - and us - on economics and capitalism - and be correct! President Sarkozy said increasing taxes is not a recession fix, that high tax rates drive from your country capital, companies and jobs. Who would have thought the Czech prime minister, incoming head of the EU, would be describing Obama's economic programs as a "road to hell."

Yet here we are. Commentators nationwide are struggling to describe what's happening without using the word "socialism." But the very scope of these actions incites citizens at every level and social strata, and the ire of Americans is rising. Mark Levin's "Liberty and Tyranny" has broken all- time Amazon records. There are tea parties. "Atlas Shrugged" was referenced twice in a week. Some Democrats are trembling.

The question: will citizens use the tools remaining to defend their principles and their country? We'll keep you posted.
